Accommodation and travel ideas in Berkshire

The Royal County of Berkshire, in the South East region of England, is located immediately to the west of London and is one of the 'Home Counties'. Whilst its proximity London ensures a large and affluent population, Berkshire still possesses much rural scenery, including long stretches of the River Thames. The county is most famed for Windsor, with its historic royal castle, but there are other towns such as Ascot and villages such as Bray and Eton that are unique and worth a visit. There are many attractions and pretty villages throughout the Thames Valley.

Historic places to visit in Berkshire

Windsor & Eton, famed for their historic castle and school respectively, are major attractions of the county and receive many visitors due to its proximity to both London and areas of great beauty such as the Great Park. The villages alongside the Thames and the Berkshire Downs are also very attractive. Throughout the county there are historic houses, gardens and ruins that are open to visitors.
