Accommodation and travel ideas in Brighton
The ancient settlement that Brighton now lies over pre-dates the Domesday book but its growth has been stimulated by the demand for a health resort in the 18th century and again in the late 19th century with railways allowing Londoners to spend a day on the beach. These eras of development mean that much of the architecture is in the regency style with originally two fantastic piers jutting into the sea.
Historic places to visit in Brighton
The west pier is still awaiting renovation but the Brighton or Palace Pier is a memorable attraction of this recently created city. Whilst the largest remnant to visit of the 11th century town is in St Nicholas Church, the Royal Pavilion that was built by the Prince Regent is a memorable visit due to its Indian architecture and Oriental interior design.
Historic Brighton bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) and hotel accommodation near Brighton
The more historic hotels and bed and breakfasts will be towards the centre but there are a decent range of hotels throughout the city along with more rural hotels and B&Bs to stay within easy reach of the city. Overall, there is a good range of bed and breakfast accommodation.
