Accommodation and travel ideas in Buckinghamshire
Located to the north-west of London and stretching up to the edge of the Midlands, the county is often known as 'Leafy Bucks' due to its rolling hills of the Chilterns and large forests. It also has several major towns such as High Wycombe, Milton Keynes and Aylesbury which is also the county town. The county can trace its history back to Celtic times but its existence as a county of derivable name goes back to the 6th century. There are many large and historic houses throughout the area due to its proximity to London, the attractiveness of the Chilterns and Vale of Aylsebury and that disease in the 19th century forced many to flee the rural villages, leaving land cheap to pick up for richer landowners.
