Accommodation and travel ideas in Gloucester
The modern city of Gloucester on the river Severn is the most inland port in the UK and can trace its origins back to the main Roman city of Glevum. It has had great importance through Saxon, Medieval, Tudor and Stuart times and as such has a mix of architecture throughout. It has a great Cathedral, Roman remains, great houses and easy access into the beautiful Cotswolds.
Historic places to visit in Gloucester
Whilst the cathedral and historic docks are very worthy popular attractions, there are other areas of Gloucester worth a visit. The Abbey hides a full copy of a local mosaic as well as a bird park, whilst the towns to the south of the city show the beautiful houses built of the back of the city's successes. The unusual time clock in the centre is worth seeing as are the rolling hills outside the city.
Historic Gloucester bed and breakfast hotel accommodation in Gloucester
The more historic hotels and bed and breakfasts will be towards the centre but there are a decent range of hotels throughout the city along with more rural hotels and B&Bs to stay at in the Cotswolds and within easy reach of the city. Overall, there is a good range of bed and breakfast accommodation.
