Accommodation and travel ideas in Hereford
Hereford is a small but historic cathedral city in England on the river Wye. The county town of Herefordshire, the city lies very close to the English border with Wales. Although capital of West Mercia in Saxon times, it came to national prominence with the construction of the Cathedral early in the Norman era and has been thought of as a city since time immemorial but has received confirming charters through the ages, some placing it in Wales rather than England.
Historic places to visit in Hereford
The Castle that rivalled Windsor in size was taken down in the 1700s after it had been tussled over in the Civil War but the beautiful bridge and impressive attraction of the Cathedral remain and are definitely worth a visit. The Bishop's Palace is thought to be the oldest continually occupied house in the land. The world famous Mappa Mundi is a certain visit whilst appreciating the wide and varied architecture throughout the centre.

The more historic hotels and bed and breakfasts will be towards the centre but there are a decent range of hotels throughout the city along with more rural hotels and B&Bs to stay at within easy reach of the city. Overall, there is a good range of bed and breakfast accommodation.
