Accommodation and travel ideas in Lancashire

Lancashire surrounds the metropolitan areas of Manchester and Liverpool yet is actually a more rural county with West Pennine Moors on its east side and the Lake District lying to the north of the county, although it does include other towns such as Clitheroe and Blackburn with coastal towns such as Morecambe and Blackpool. Much of these towns grew in the Industrial Revolution or, as is the case with the coastal resorts, because of it. The Forest of Bowland, or "Lancashire's hidden gem", has spent much time as inaccessible and so remains an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Historic Lancashire places to visit

The rural aspect of this county is one of the greatest attractions with the Pennines to the East, Lakes to the North along with Arnside and Silverside, and Pendle Hill near Burnley which gave rise to the witches trials of the same name. Blackpool has become famous as the largest holiday resort in the UK with its distinctive tower.

Historic Lancashire bed and breakfasts and hotel accommodation in Lancashire

The more historic hotels and bed and breakfast accommodation tends to be towards the centre of the older towns. For those that prefer quieter rural locations then there are many hotels, pubs and B&Bs in the smaller towns and villages throughout the area.
