Accommodation and travel ideas in Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire, although its county town of Northampton was denied city status, has many towns including Brackley, Corby, Kettering, Oundle, Rushden, Silverstone, Towcester and Wellingborough. Northamptonshire is often called the county of "squires and spires" due to its wide variety of historic buildings and country houses. It has also been described as "England's Pancreas" due to its shape and location within the UK, and because it is regularly overlooked. The county is in central England and boasts the shortest county border, of just 19 metres, with Lincolnshire.

Historic places to visit Northamptonshire

There is a long list of historic buildings, abbeys and country houses to visit throughout Northamptonshire, many with the added attraction of gardens or a country park. There is also a 19th century (Roman Catholic) Cathedral in Northampton with many museums based around the Grand Union Canal and past industries.

Historic Northamptonshire bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) and hotel accommodation in Northamptonshire

The more historic hotels and bed and breakfast accommodation tends to be towards the centre of the older towns. For those that prefer quieter rural locations then there are many hotels, pubs and B&Bs in the smaller towns and villages throughout the area.
