Somerset is a major county of the West Country and is home to the three cities of Bristol, Bath and Wells along with the historic towns of Glastonbury, Langport, Taunton, Yeovil, Chard, and Wincanton. Somerset is bounded by the River Severn to the north, Devon to the west and Dorset and Wiltshire to the east. Somerset is also the home of some stunning areas including parts of the Exmoor National Park and Blackmore Hills and the entire of both the Quantock and Mendip Hills. There has been human settlement in the area since Neolithic times and has been important in many conflicts especially the English Civil War.
