Stoke, in North Staffordshire, is best known for its world leading pottery industry and is often referred to as just The Potteries as it was formed of six smaller and adjacent pottery towns.
Historic places to visit in Stoke
There are pottery museums and the old bottle kilns can be seen throughout the town, with one pottery still in production and is a popular attraction. Amongst other museums and art galleries there is the large park of Trentham gardens. The Peak District national park is nearby and there are large historic homes and gardens surrounding Stoke to visit.
