Wells: bed and breakfast accommodation

Wells is the smallest city in England, with a population of only 10,000 but has had city status since the 13th century. The main attraction is the striking Wells Cathedral, the grounds of which contain the Bishop's Palace and the Vicars Close, a medieval street where the clergy live. This is thought to be the oldest continuously-inhabited street in Europe. The city is named after the wells in the Bishops Palace.

Historic places to visit near Wells

The attractions of the town are mainly based around the Cathedral with its Bishops Palace and medieval streets. It has also been a prominent market town with its attractive market square. Placed at the bottom of the Mendip hills, the breathtaking countryside is worth a visit or day trip. The city has become more serene since it was bypassed recently.
