Winchester: bed and breakfast accommodation

The historic city of Winchester at the western end of the South Downs is the county town of Hampshire and dates back more than 2 millennia to a Celtic hill fort. The city prospered as both Roman and Saxon settlements and was capital of all England south of the Danelaw until 1066. Today it survives as a beautiful and peaceful city that is highly regarded for its architecture.

Historic place to visit in Winchester

The medieval city centre, the Cathedral and its gardens are major attractions to the city and those that are fans of legend will want to visit the Great Hall, the remnant of the Castle, that houses Arthur's Round Table. The city has two medieval gates and Winchester College is thought to be the oldest serving school in the UK. There are also several museums and galleries.

Historic Winchester bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) and hotel accommodation in Winchester

The more historic hotels and bed and breakfasts will be towards the centre but there are a decent range of hotels throughout the city along with more rural hotels and B&Bs to stay at in the beautiful local countryside.
