Windsor: bed and breakfast accommodation

Windsor is a highlighted visitor attraction due to the architecture, history and continuity of purpose of the settlement over the centruries. Whilst Old Windsor is thought to pre-date 'New' Windsor by 3 centuries, the Royal Household is thought to have moved to this new settlement around 1100 and Windsor Castle has been an Official Royal Residence ever since.

Historic places to visit in Windsor

The major attractions in Windsor are a visit to the castle and around the royal residences, and if you are there at the right time, get the chance to see the changing of the guard. As it is a royal town there is no escaping the sense of permanence, history, pomp and tradition that surrounds the centre of the town and the Great Park to the south of the castle. In Eton there is the college with its old but still used chapel, cloisters and schoolrooms with a museum to match. There are city sightseeing tours that go around both towns.

Historic Windsor bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) and hotel accommodation in Windsor

The more historic hotels and bed and breakfasts are nearer the castle but there are a decent range of hotels in and around the town with some B&Bs also on Eton High Street.
