Introduction

83 Whiting Street, a 14th Century counting house with many historic features offers comfortably furnished bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities and hairdryer, televisions and tea/coffee tray. Non smokers only.

History to the present day

A post Medieval Hall type house, probably a counting house, (a place for storage of valuables and money associated with commercial undertaking). In the Dining Room there is a wall painting dating back to 1530, possibly the best of its kind ever to be found in England.

Dining and drinking

Breakfast is served in the Dining Room Monday - Friday 7.00am - 9.30am and 8.00 - 9.30am at weekends. This is where the ancient wall painting adorns the main wall. Full English breakfast is served with a variety of cereals, and lighter options available upon request.

There are beautiful public gardens to be found in the town, surrounded by the walls of the ancient Abbey.

The house is centrally located in the heart of bustling Bury St Edmunds and is walking distance to a plethora of restaurants, pubs and cafes. The town offers some lovely historic attractions and some more modern additions like a new cinema complex and ultra modern shopping arcade. All within an easy walk from the house. Parking vouchers are available upon request to ensure town centre parking.
