Introduction

This family run, friendly hotel is situated in a quiet village with links close to the M74 motorway. Glasgow and Edinburgh are only a 45 minute drive away with its historic castle, military tattoo, museums, galleries and shops. Visit the local town of Biggar with its Gladstone and Gasworks Museum or Drumlanrig Castle. Explore the coastal Southern Upland Way, with hundreds of miles of coast. 

All rooms are en-suite and are comfortably furnished. Choose from single, double, twin and family rooms which all include; televisions, hairdryer, hospitality tray and bathroom toiletries. The Hotel also offers free internet access.

History to the present day

Originally a coaching inn, which offered travellers a relaxing stop over during journeys to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Famous residents at the hotel included Prince Louis Napoleon, who stayed at the hotel in 1839. Visitors can still view the chair the prince used on his visit.

Food and Drinks

Full English/Scottish breakfast served in the Arbory Lounge. This relaxed restaurant serves informal lunches and evening meals, in front of a welcoming fire. Drinks can also be enjoyed in the Arbory lounge. The Glengonnar room is more formal yet still relaxed. The Glengonnar menu serves a varied menu and uses locally sourced and fresh seasonal produce. For refreshments during the day, relax in the conservatory room with tea and homemade cakes or enjoy after dinner drinks.
