Introduction

This privately owned 3 star boutique hotel is situated in the historical market town of Alton. Situated in the north east of Hampshire it provides an ideal base to explore Winchester, Portsmouth and Chawton village, the home of the famous writer Jane Austen. The local villages of Selborne, Alresford and Farnham are within easy access, and Stonehenge and the New Forest are approximately 45 minutes away and by train, London Waterloo just 55 minutes.

With 30 bedrooms including family rooms and 2 luxury suites all individually designed and offering modern luxury with some having views over the landscaped gardens. Each room is en-suite bathroom, with television and satellite channels, radio, direct dial telephones, trouser press, hairdryers and tea and coffee making facilities. Rooms also have high speed internet wireless access. 

History to the present day

Alton Grange Hotel was purchased in 1986 by the current owners who have refurbished and extended the hotel. The hotel has a extensive collection of over 70 Tiffany's Lampshades both inside and out.

Food and Drinks

Full English breakfast is included and served in the award winning Truffles Restaurant. The restaurant features in both the AA Hotel and Restaurant Guide and is recommended in the Michelin Guide. It also holds 2 AA Rosettes for both excellent food and service.

For less formal dining the Muffins Bar and Restaurant offers a modern alternative to bistro classics and serves brunches and lunches in a modern and contemporary atmosphere. Brunch Service, 9.00am-12.00pm, lunch service, 12.00pm-2.00pm
and evening service 7.00pm-9.30pm

Afternoon teas are available throughout the year, including traditional English cream teas, high teas and seasonal treats to be enjoyed in the comfort of the lounge or sun terrace. Relax in the bar area with an extensive wine list.

Grounds and gardens

Two acres of landscaped gardens to explore with statues set in amongst the shrubs. Visit the peaceful Temple room at the end of the garden or sit and enjoy the Balloon Patio under the Pergola.

Other facilities

Alton Grange Hotel is now working in conjunction with Energique to offer their guests a chance to use the facilities at Alton’s leading Health and Fitness club; with indoor swimming pool, steam rooms and jacuzzi and state of the art gym. This private Health club is only a short walk from the hotel.
