History to the present day

Aylesbray Lodge is run by husband and wife, George and Anna. It was established in 1998. The building was built in the 1930s and is situated near the world famous Addenbrookes hospital and the Medical Research Center. This is where the theory of DNA was first discovered and developed. A number of prominent scientist and doctors have stayed at the Aylesbray Lodge. A scientist from the Nordic region worked on the cure for Hepatitis C and shared his “Eureka” moment when he came for breakfast one morning dancing with joy for discovering the cure.

A World War Two American pilot who was stationed in Cambridge during the war stayed and paid tribute to some of his friends who had fallen and were buried at the American cemetery just six miles away.
