Introduction

Awarded 4 stars by VisitScotland, Ben Doran is centrally located in Edinburgh with excellent bus services to the city centre with many attractions nearby such as Edinburgh Castle, museums, shops, restaurants and famous golf courses.

All rooms have been tastefully decorated and have views of Edinburgh architecture and the hillsides. Choose from double or executive en suite rooms which are very spacious and have additional comfortable seating. 

History to the present day

Built in the Georgian era, the house still retains many original features such as a period staircase, open fires and original windows.  The terrace consisted of family homes originally. The Ben Doran was used as a manse before the war, and then became a hotel afterwards.

Food and Drinks

Full Scottish breakfast included and cooked to order, and served on finest china and silver cutlery, with vegetarian options available.

Light lunches, desserts and drinks are served from 12.00pm until 2.00pm every day, with packed lunches available on request. Enjoy afternoon tea featuring scones with jam and cream, delicious pastries and sandwiches. Freshly cooked dinner is served from 6.30pm until 8.30pm with a varied choice of dishes.

Directions: Follow A68 north until you reach the A720, and join the westbound carriageway. Enter the city via the A701 road. From the M8 junction 1, join the A720 eastbound until the turn off for the A701 road, which will take you into Edinburgh.

Nearest train stations: Princes Street and Waverley Station (2 miles) 

Buses: 3, 7, 8, 31, 37 and 69 which have routes to the city centre in just 10 minutes.
