Introduction

The Bird In Hand is a delightful 14th Century country inn located in Berkshire, just outside London, between Maidenhead and Reading. It offers easy access to London via the M4 or M40 as well as many other local places of interest such as Windsor, the Cotswolds and Henley on Thames.

The accommodation is set within the grounds of the inn. The 15 newly refurbished rooms offer a relaxing and peaceful night's sleep with the added advantage of an excellent bar and restaurant.The bedrooms range from Executive Doubles and Twin Rooms to Singles.

History to the present day

Part of the bar dates back 600 years to the 14th century, when passers by stopped on their way from London, Windsor and Oxford. Oak panelling and a real Inglenook fire add to the truly traditional and cosy feel. 

Food and Drinks

Whether dining in the Restaurant or in the Bar, The Bird In Hand offers a wide range of dishes including traditional English Fayre to European and Oriental dishes and light snacks with daily changing Specials. At lunchtime guests can choose from a cold buffet for a fast and easy meal. Meals are served Monday to Saturday from 12.00pm - 10.00pm. On Sundays traditional Roast dinners are available from 12.00pm to 9.00pm.

From April onwards guests can enjoy their drinks, lunches and dinner in the open air on the patio and garden areas. Throughout the summer there are regular Barbeques or Spit Roast cooked on the large brick built barbeque.

The Guests rooms are built around a brick courtyard, with a fountain, where you can relax and enjoy the tranquillity of a secluded garden.

Directions: From the M4, take turn off for A404(M)/A308(M) exit to High Wycombe/Henley/Maidenhead. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A404(M).  At junction 9b, take the A4 exit to Reading/Maidenhead. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Bath Rd/A4 heading to Reading/Littlewick Green/Knowl Hill/Twyford/A3032, the Inn will be on the right.
