Introduction

The Vernon-Miller family welcomes you to our house.

Situated in fields on the Northern edge of the Cotswolds is Blackwell Grange, a 17th century farm house, as its low beamed ceilings, stone flagged floors and deep-set windows testify. It looks out on to open fields stretching south towards the Cotswold hills.

It is still a farm: a flock of pedigree sheep grazes the fields, and free ranging Wyandotte bantams - prolific layers of eggs for our real English breakfast - help with a spot of gardening. Both our sheep and hens star - and win - at agricultural shows around the country.

The area is one of outstanding natural beauty, dotted with golden - stoned Cotswold villages: Snowshill, Chipping Campden, the Swells and the Slaughters to name but a few. You can leave cars behind to walk the “Centenary Way”, Stanton, Stanway and Broadway Tower or roam the bridleways.  We'll pack a picnic for you, though you may prefer to pause at a pub, or treat yourself to a cream tea.

The spacious bedrooms, with zip-and-link beds, are all en-suite and have tea/coffee facilities. Log fires, deep sofas and plenty to read, offer warmth and relaxation at the end of a winter's day. In summer though, the colours, perfumes and sounds of an English country garden are a real temptation to let the world go by as you read, or write, or plan - or dream.

History to the present day

From humble beginnings nearly 400 years ago, Blackwell Grange has evolved into a comfortable, rambling farmstead with flagstone floors, beamed ceilings, deep-set mullioned windows and generous fireplaces.
