Introduction

This charming country inn has been recently renovated to provide modern facilities within a traditional environment. Situated close to the village of Burghclere, the home of Sandham Memorial Chapel and Highclere Castle. The old market town of Newbury is just a few minutes drive, with a daily market, canal trips and an abundance of shops.
23 stylish double or twin bedrooms, which have been designed to meet the needs of the modern traveller. All bedrooms offer home from home comforts such as comfy thick duvets, thick and fluffy towels, power showers, luxury toiletries, flat screen plasma TV's with Freeview, desk and chair, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary water.

History to the present day

A grade II listing building dating from the 1800's. Originally a coaching inn providing refreshment and rest for visitors travelling to the nearby Highclere Castle, home to the present Lord and Lady Carnarvon.

Food and Drinks

Continental breakfast served Monday-Friday from 7.00am-9.00am and weekends 8.00am-10.00am in the period vaulted dining room. Full English breakfast available at an additional cost, please book as an upgrade. Enjoy lunch, dinner and lighter bar snacks throughout the day which feature imaginative modern British a la carte dishes, as well as traditional pub classics such as sausage and mash and home made pies. Relax in the bar with your pre or post dinner drink.
