Introduction
From its elevated position on the edge of the historic town of Bovey Tracey, Coombe Cross has magnificent views of Dartmoor National Park and is ideally located to form a base for exploring the whole of South Devon and Eastern Cornwall. Friendly and informal, Coombe Cross has for many years offered guests a restful and relaxed holiday amidst some of the most naturally beautiful surroundings in the British Isles. The hotel is south facing with the South Devon coastline just 12 miles away. All 22 bedrooms are en-suite and are comfortably furnished, tastefully decorated and designated 'non-smoking'. 10 of these rooms are south facing, and are classed as Moorview rooms. All guests are offered full use of the leisure facilities, which comprise of a Sauna, Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi, and Gymnasium. Full changing areas included.
Food and Drinks
Breakfast is a buffet of cereals, fresh fruit, fruit juice, yoghurt and preserves welcomes guests whilst freshly brewed coffee and tea get the day off to a good start. Traditional cooked dishes are prepared to order and served hot from the kitchen using free range eggs and other locally sourced ingredients. A full English breakfast is available between 8.00am - 9.00am Monday to Friday and 8.30am - 9.30am at weekends.
The restaurant enjoys the delightful view across the Bovey Valley to the wooded, bracken covered hills up to the rugged granite outcrop of Haytor. Service is friendly and informal whilst the table d'hote menus offer a variety of carefully prepared, predominantly traditional, homemade English dishes complemented by other contemporary combinations from around the world. The wine cellar offers the opportunity to explore the variety of the world's wine styles by offering vintages from the majority of the popular wine making countries.
Dinner is available in the evening from 7pm at a cost of £22.95 per person or £16.95 per person when booked at the time of your accomodation booking. Complimentary coffee is served upon request after dinner.
Grounds and gardens
The spacious, mature garden stretches the full length of the hotel and contains a lovely variety of herbaceous shrubs, camelias, azaleas and other specimen trees including the well-documented yucca, now supposedly over 90 years old. The beds and lawns are enclosed within a high sheltering hedge over which the splendid views unfold across the town and up to Haytor on the Moor.
Other facilities
Bovey Tracey is one of Dartmoor's gateway towns set beneath the attractive, undulating foothills which lead up to the high moors. Straddling the River Bovey it offers the visitor much to explore, from numerous inns and quaint local shops to the well known Devon Guild of Craftsmen's. Riverside Mill gallery and craft showrooms, and the modern examples of pottery and glass making at the Cardew Design Tea Pottery and the House of Marbles.
Guests enjoy sitting out under the copper beech or on the sunny patio with their morning coffee or afternoon tea.

Directions: Situated in Bovey Tracey, Devon on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.
Follow the M5 past Exeter onto the A38 heading for Plymouth. Having skirted Chudleigh, take the next exit and go through Chudleigh Knighton following signs for Bovey Tracey. Just inside the town's 30 limit, turn right into Bradley Road. The Hotel is on the right at the top of the rise.
From Plymouth heading East on the A38, pass Buckfastleigh and Ashburton. Continue on to the junction with the A382 to Bovey Tracey. Go into the centre of Bovey Tracey, over the river and up the High Street keeping right. Pass the Church on your left and the hotel is a further 300 yds on the left at the next junction.
Newton Abbot station, this is approximately a £10 taxi ride.
