Introduction

Built in 1876, Cumbria House is a warm and friendly, family run Victorian, Bed & Breakfast. Coveniently located in the beautiful City of York, you are only a short walk from the historical City Walls, theatre, shops and York Minster.

There are 6 elegantly decorated rooms set over three floors with a charming Victorian dining area on the ground floor, creating the perfect aspect from which to enjoy a delicious breakfast to prepare you for your day in and around York.

Food and Drinks

Breakfast is served between 8.00am to 9.00am weekdays; 8.00am to 9.30am weekends. However, these times are flexible and breakfast can be arranged at different times if prior arrangement is made with the hosts.

A full breakfast menu is available including vegetarian options. On offer are many different cereals, toast, preserves, fresh fruit juices, tea and coffee as well as the traditional full English breakfast. If you have any special dietary requirements, please mention this in advance of your stay.

Other facilities

All rooms have flatscreen, freeview TV/DVD, radio/alarm clocks, free wi-fi, facilities to make hot drinks and fresh milk in flasks. There is a private car park for guest's use only.

Directions:  Travelling in by car follow the Northen Ring Road (A1237), turn into York at Roundabout (B1363) and follow signs for District Hospital. Turn sharp left at traffic lights onto Haxby Road after the Hospital. Continue past Cumbria House (on left) and then take second left into Rose Street (before bridge). Follow down to the end and turn left; follow again to the end and turn left.  You are now on Vyner Street and the car park is on the left.

Nearest Station: York 5 minutes by car or 15 minute walk.
