Introduction
Surrounded by extensive gardens and the historic Duisdale Forest, Duisdale House Hotel stands on a hillside on the beautiful Isle of Skye, with panoramic views across the Sound of Sleat. This award-winning hotel boasts an excellent restaurant, conservatory and elegant lounge with high ceilings and log fire overlooking the gardens. There is also a stylish, contemporary bar which is well stocked with Malt Whiskies.
Each bedroom is unique in both décor and layout and most have captivating views over the mature gardens and forest while some have sea and mountain views. All are en-suite with elegant, contemporary décor and some have magnificent Four Poster beds. The striking modern design complements the original features of the building.
Guests may enjoy a woodland walk in the 30 acres of forest that surround Duisdale House or take a dip in the new exclusive luxurious hydropool in the gardens. Other local activities include fishing, walking and horse riding and the Island is home to Dunvegan Castle, The Clan Donald Centre, Talisker Distillery and of course the magnificent Cuillin Mountains. There is also the unique opportunity to enjoy a sailing trip on board the hotels luxury yacht and explore the beautiful islands nearby.
History to the present day
The Duisdale House Hotel is a former hunting lodge built in 1857 for the head of the McDonald Clan. It remained in the family and was later rented out and transformed into a hotel. Under different ownerships the hotel flourished.
The large vegetable garden was one of the main emblems for the hotel. Rather neglected during the previous ownership, the hotel is now back to its former glory, with a contemporary design which blends in perfectly with the old surroundings.
Food and Drinks
Duisdale House Hotel’s restaurant offers a table d’hôte menu offering modern Scottish cuisine using carefully-selected suppliers including many local Skye partners.
Award winning chef, Graham Campbell, is the youngest Michelin Chef in Great Britain and his famed speciality dishes include Loch Sconser Hand-Dived Scallops, Saddle of Wild Forest Hare, Sound of Sleat Lobster Ravioli and Dark Chocolate Veloute with Liquorice Root Ice Cream & Black Olive Syrup.
There is an extensive wine list with something to complement every palate. The Malt Whisky selection comes highly recommended or there’s a traditional Skye Ale to enjoy in the Chart Room Bar.
We were recently awarded 2 AA rosettes for excellent food.

Skye is an island, therefore the nearest motorway junction is Glasgow, which is a four hour drive away. However, all major roads are well kept.
Drive to Kyle of Lochalsh, cross the Skye Bridge and at the turning on your left marked A851, turn towards Armadale. Continue along the road approximately 7 miles to Duisdale and the Hotel is clearly signed on your right, just after you enter the 40 miles per hour zone.
If you are arriving via Mallaig, on arrival at Armadale take the main road and drive along for 10 miles to Duisdale Mor and the hotel is up on your left.
