Introduction

This Victorian Country Hotel is located in Highland Perthshire, less than 2 hours from both Edinburgh and Glasgow and set amongst some of the most spectacular Highland scenery making it perfect for romantic breaks, an escape to the country as well as for special celebrations.

The rooms are all wonderfully proportioned with open fires, wood panelling, comfy leather sofas and wingback chairs which when coupled with its location, nestled between two lochs and wild hillsides festooned with heather and deer, make this a photographers dream.

History to the present day

The hotel has a long tradition of authentic 'highland hospitality'. Built by soldiers returning from the Battle of Culloden as a Coaching Inn in the 1780's, it remained as such for over 100 years until its development into a hotel at the end of the 19th Century under the watchful and guiding eye of Major General Alastair Macdonald, Commander of the Forces. Since then it has been host to royalty and gentry from all the world over. More recently it was owned by the Edwards’ family for 20 years, before being acquired at the end of 2009 by a small, family run hospitality company, Warrack Leisure. The new owners are keen to bestow a similar combination of loving care and delicate attention to detail, together with careful restoration and subtle alteration which the Edwards family did during their ownership in order to preserve all its grand character of the past whilst tastefully adding modern comforts and standards guests require from a fine 3 Star Highland Hotel in the 21st Century.
