A perfect location for exploring Argyll and the Islands of Scotland's West Coast. This award winning 17th century drovers inn is nestled on the lochside in the picturesque village of Ardfern.

Spend your days exploring castles, beaches and gardens. Perhaps take a woodland walk or discover a Hebridean Island or two from nearby Oban Harbour.

Choose between double, twin, or family room, where children under 5 yrs can stay free of charge. Each room within the accommodation has been designed and decorated to offer guests warm and comfortable surroundings with modern facilities such as LCD freeview television, ipod docking and Wi Fi. Most rooms have spectacular views of the loch, burn or pretty church. History to the present day

The Galley of the Lorne Inn was used as a drovers inn, the inns were essential to the local community. Until modern times farming was the main occupation and cattle from the off lying islands, Jura, Scarba, etc., were landed near Craignish point and driven along the peninsula to the mainland. Of the three inns that ‘supported’ the drovers only the Galley or Lorne Inn, dating from 1680 survives in Ardfern. 

Food and Drinks

The newly constructed Restaurant and Function Room has massive picture windows giving all diners unparalleled, breathtaking views across Loch Craignish. The Galley of Lorne offers delicious and stylish dining, prepared with local produce. There is a very comfortable lounge bar to enjoy a drink before or after your meal in the company of our spectacular carved oak lions.

The public bar is in the oldest part of the Inn and is a characterful place to meet, have a drink and relax by the roaring fire.  Guests can select and sample some of the inns collection of 50 carefully chosen whiskies and fine wines.

In the warmer months enjoy the outdoor area where you can enjoy your meal and drinks, supplemented with a spectacular view of Loch Craignish.

The Galley of Lorne has a lovely outdoor terrace deck with spectacular views over the country and loch. There is also a pleasant and relaxing beer garden to enjoy your drink.
