Introduction

The Idle Rocks sits on the edge of St Mawes harbour wall overlooking the water in the quaint fishing village of St Mawes, on the tip of the Roseland Peninsular, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The hotel offers a selection of bedrooms including select and premier rooms which have French windows and balconettes that enable guests to get the most out of the superb views. Premier rooms also have the luxury of bathrooms with walk in showers, bath robes and mineral water.

History to the present day

The Hotel was built in 1875 and still retains many features and character. A local landmark is St Mawes Castle, one of two "sentinels" that served as guardians of the Carrick Roads waterway back in the days of Henry VIII, the other being Pendennis Castle in Falmouth.

Food and Drinks

Full English or Continental breakfast is included. The Water’s Edge Restaurant has received award recognition for good food for over 20 consecutive years and offers classic and modern dishes. The restaurant itself looks out onto St Mawes harbour which can become very exciting during winter storms. Sunday Lunches are served between 12pm-2.30pm. More informal dining - including Cornish Cream Teas is offered in the Bar or Lounge every day and can also be enjoyed on the extensive terrace, perched right on the water's edge.

Grounds and gardens

There is a terrace to relax and watch the boats go in and out of the harbour. The beach is right outside the hotel and very safe for paddling and swimming.

Other facilities

WiFi is available throughout the hotel and porter service.
