Rooms are available in single, double, twin, premier and superior rooms which are particularly spacious and most offer a South facing view over the vale of Strathmore. They also have the added luxury of complimentary water, fluffy towels and designer toiletries. The hotel also offers a luxury disabled suite which includes a spacious entrance lounge with laminate flooring thoughout. Wet room bathroom with ample turning space for a wheel chair. Power shower with extenable riser and handrails, shower chair and further support rails around toilet that is easily accessed from both sides. Spacious double or twin bedded room. Both beds with motorised head and foot rests, one bed with extra wide access also elevates. The disabled suite is equipped with a wide, flat screen digital TV and DVD player, small fridge, ideal for storing medication and is situated in the peace and quiet of the Coach House, just behind the main hotel with ramp access.

History to the present day

The impressive Victorian mansion was built in the 1830's, commissioned by Sir William Olgilvy who on his return from Waterloo chose Loyal Hillas the site for this magnificent home. This country house was transformed into a very prominent hotel in the heart of Scotland in 1945. The hall is modelled on one of the magnificent lounges from the famous steamship "the Mauritania" and has warmed, welcomed and comforted its guests in the same unique way as in the days of Sir William Ogilvy himself.

Food and Drinks

Full English breakfast is included. Choose from three dining rooms, two of which have open fires and a view over the vale of Strathmore. The highly acclaimed restaurant offers food that has been freshly prepared from seasonal produce, and where possible local to the extent that it may have been grown in the hotels kitchen garden. The restaurants are open all day for light lunches and bar suppers. In the evening, an a la carte menu is also available for more formal dining. The hotel will prepare fresh children's dishes to order such as pasta, chicken and sausages. Relax in the lounge or cosy bar area with it's open fire which is lit on cooler nights.

Grounds and gardens

The main garden faces south overlooking the Vale of Strathmore and the town of Alyth with its three golf courses. Wide herbaceous borders provide lots of colour and interest all year round. In summer the walls are draped with spectacular roses. Relax on the terrace with a drink and enjoy the views.

Other facilities

The hotel offers free car parking on-site. Free Wi Fi throughout the hotel. Room service and children's games and books.
