The full service bar has over eighty scottish single malt whiskies for you to sample.  Enjoy a romantic break, a malt whisky trail experience, or join us for an immensely enjoyable Highland Country House Christmas or New Year package.

We know that most of your time in our hotel will be spent in your bedroom, and so we make every effort to create a warm, luxurious and comfortable place to relax and sleep. As a result, we are the only hotel in the UK to have 1000 percale Egyptian cotton bedlinen, for truly sumptuous cosiness!

Our family rooms will comfortably accommodate families of four or more, and all of our rooms are beautifully appointed. all have radios, a TV, hair dryer tea and coffee making facilities including freshly ground coffee and complimentary biscuits.

Our restaurant is the best in the area. Head Chef and co-owner Rebecca Ferrand sources the highest quality local ingredients from independent suppliers and creates delicious and stunning dishes.

We look forward to welcoming you and looking after you during your stay.

History to the present day

Muckrach was built as a hunting lodge for the Seafield Estate in 1865. It is a classic stone, gabled roof building. It was custom at the time to plant a Wellingtonia on completion of a build and we now have a massive and ancient specimen in our grounds. The Lodge was requisitioned during World War Two and became a hotel in the late 1940s.

Our nearest neightbour is Muckrach Castle, a 20th Century rebuild of a typical Highland fortified house from the 15th Century.

Food and Drinks

Head Chef and co-owner Rebecca Ferrand is passionate about sourcing the highest quality local ingredients from small independent suppliers. Fruit and vegetables come from local farmers and our own kitchen garden, seafood is delivered directly from Scottish boats, and the game and meat comes off the surrounding hills and moorland.

All this Scottish bounty is prepared and cooked to perfection and served in our elegant restaurant, where the service is informal yet attentive.

Our extensive wine list covers all tastes and budgets, with at least ten wines available by the glass, and several more in half bottles. The bar is a cosy lounge with a roaring fire, and the perfect place to sample whiskies, cocktails and draft beers.

Grounds and gardens

Our ten acres of lanscaped grounds offer beautiful and serene views, hundreds of trees and a croquet lawn. The fauna is extensive: lapwings, oystercatchers, herons, eagles and opsreys in the air, deer, rabbits and foxes on the ground.  In the lower field live Angus and Archie, two fine specimens of highland cow with horns over 2 metres long.

Other facilities

We offer excellent facilities for walkers, skiers and sportspersons, including secure equipment storage and a range of delicious picnic lunches.  Dogs are welcome for a small supplement if staying in the room.

We are happy to arrange any transport or activity needs you may have.

Muckrach is a favourite local wedding venue, and serves a number of corporate clients as well.

Address: Muckrach Lodge Hotel & Restaurant, Dulnain Bridge, Nr Grantown on Spey, Morayshire PH26 3LY

Check-In: From 2pm Check-out: 10am

Muckrach Lodge is 500m to the west of Dulnain Bridge on the Carr-bridge road. The postcode is PH26 3LY but beware because some navigation systems will send you one track to the west of our access drive. If coming from Carr-bridge and the north you will pass the castle up on a hill to your left and then the rear service entrance to the hotel. The main drive is past the field on the left. You can usually see our two highland cattle in this field.

If you are coming from the south on the A9 turn right onto the A95 for Grantown on Spey. This is one exit past the Aviemore turn off. The exit is a short spur to a T junction on the actual A95.  Turn left. Continue for about 12 miles and watch for signs to Dulnain Bridge on the left. Enter Dulnain Bridge, cross the bridge and at the T junction with the post office in front of you turn left. The entrance to the hotel is on the right about 500m further on, opposite a layby on the left.
