Introduction
Set amidst The Lake District's most dramatic fells in the picturesque Langdale Valley, the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel nestles beneath the Langdale Pikes and Pavey Ark in six acres of mature gardens and pasture.
This is the perfect place to wind down and relax - let us take care of you with the highest quality cuisine, fine wines, extremely comfortable bedrooms, roaring log fires and some of the finest scenery in the world famous Lake District.
We offer excellent hotel accommodation with a choice of four poster, superior & standard rooms. All bedrooms enjoy the most dramatic of views, whether over Stickle Beck as it tumbles down the fellside, to the Pikes themselves all dominant and brooding or Lingmoor as she forms the long south easterly side of the valley.
Children under the age of 5yrs are charged at £2.50 per night (B&B).
Children aged 5 - 12yrs are charged at £10.00 per night (B&B) when sharing with 2 full paying adults. Please see Available Rooms for the relevant promotion codes.
History to the present day
The “New” tag is slightly misleading as it was built in 1862 on the site of a medieval settlement.
Food and Drinks
The Walkers Bar is a haven for visitors and locals alike and offers an excellent selection of real ales and home cooked bar meals. The New Dungeon Ghyll's charming restaurant has open log fires, overlooking the gardens and the Lakeland fells beyond and offers a choice of menus for both lunch and dinner.
