Introduction

Centrally located in the heart of Caithness, between the towns of Thurso and Wick it is an ideal base for exploring the countryside, lochs and mountains. Only a short drive away from ferry terminals which sail to Orkney, with it's wildlife and historic attractions. This Georgian Bed and Breakfast has been restored to a high standard, offering contemporary furnishings whilst still retaining many original features. 

Generous accommodation with many traditional features such as solid wooden floors, wood burning stove and shuttered sash windows. The Winter Suite accommodation is set on two floors, with a separate lounge and dining area. The room has large flat screen TV with Satellite TV, broadband access, shower Room and designer toiletries. 

History to the present day

The house was built in 1844, when the Free Church of Scotland split from the established church, it was owned by the Free Church right up until the 1980’s. It has seen many respected and colourful characters as residents over the years, each of which has left their own legacy at the house. There is even a tale to tell regarding the famous author J.M .Barrie. which led the property to be feautured on BBC Radio Scotland in 2010.

Food and Drinks

Full English/Scottish breakfast included and served in the Red Room or in the privacy of your own room. Breakfasts are served from 7.00am and cooked freshly to order.

Dinner is available at a set price of £20.00 for three courses, which includes a starter, main course and dessert, with vegetarian options available. Many of the ingredients used are home grown or sourced locally. Please include as an upgrade.

Grounds and gardens

Mature gardens with outdoor seating available.

Other facilities

The residents lounge has an original cast iron fireplace, comfortable sofas, large guest table and antique piano which has been at the house for over 100 years. Guests can also make use of the 32" flat screen television and CD music system.
