History to the present day

Originally a Coaching Inn dating from the 1700's, for over 30 years The Peat Inn has sustained a reputation for being one of the finest restaurants in Scotland.

Food and Drinks

Breakfast is served in the suites at a chosen time between 8.00am-10.00am and includes yoghurts with fruit or granola, fresh fruit salad and poached seasonal fruits, Loch Arthur cheddar, Ayrshire ham, a selection of fresh fruit juices, boiled eggs and home-made croissants, breads and preserves.

Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant providing lunch or dinner using the best local and seasonal produce. Each room is also available for private parties if required. For decades The Peat Inn has been synonymous with good wine as well as good food. With a wine list comprising over 400 bins, taking in not only famous vineyards but lesser known, small producers, too, there is plenty to excite all palates. Moreover, prices reflect a love of wine, not a determination to chase commercial margins.

The Restaurant opening times are as follows: Tuesday to Saturday Lunch 12.30pm-1.30pm Dinner 7.00pm-9.00pm. The Restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays throughout the year.

It is one of Joanna Blythman’s choices in a list of the top seasonal restaurants in Scotland and also one of the AA’s Top 200 rated hotels.
