Introduction

You are assured of a warm and friendly welcome, whether in winter by the roaring log fires or in summer in the gardens and courtyard surrounded by flowering baskets and beds. With six tastefully decorated ensuite bedrooms. There are three extremely comfortable standard doubles which offer all the necessary facilities. Two very popular ensuite bedrooms are across the courtyard in September Cottage equipped with video, Hi-Fi and seating area. There is also a newly built double bedroom that boasts a walk-in shower, large flat screen TV, i-Pod docking station and all the other listed facilities.

Situated in the Peak National Park, The Plough Inn is ideally situated as a base from which to explore this beautiful part of Derbyshire. Close by are the Stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Castleton, with its many caves and caverns and the world famous Blue John Mine is only a short distance away. Also at Castleton is Peveril castle. Amongst many other places of interest in the locality is the plague village of Eyam and the market town of Bakewell, famous for its Bakewell Puddings.

History to the present day

It is one of the oldest pubs in England. It was previously a lead mill untill 1756 when Robert Eyre became the first Landlord.

Food and Drinks

Tastefully decorated and intimate restaurant offers the ideal environment in which to dine and relax in an informal atmosphere. Relax and take a meal in the cosy bar complete with real log fires. Serving a wide range of hand-pulled ales and fine wines from around the world.

The menu consists of dishes produced fresh by the head chef and his dedicated team. The menu is a mix of modern European and traditional food using only the finest quality produce brought together in an eclectic style.

With over forty main dishes to choose from there is sure to be something to suit everyone’s taste. Complimented by a wide range of excellent wines from around the world and finally a night cap with over thirty whiskies, brandys and liqueurs to choose from.

Situated in 9 acres of its own land set in idyllic surroundings on the banks of the River Derwent.

Directions: Leave the M1 at junction 29. Signs at A617 to Chesterfield town centre.
A619 to Baslow/Chatsworth, A623 to Calver Traffic lights, Garage on the right,
Turn right here to Grindleford B6001.

In Grindleford, turn left 50 yards past the garage on the left, still the B6001,
continue along this road for approximately two miles over the brow of of a small hill.

The Plough Inn will be on your right just before the River Derwent, one mile before Hathersage village.
