Introduction

Quarter is the home of Robin and Pippa Maclean, who welcome you to stay at their beautiful Georgian country house near Stirling. Situated between the M80 & M9 motorways, it is an ideal location for easy access to Glasgow, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park to the west, as well as Edinburgh and the Kingdom of Fife within half on hour south east. With Stirling, Perth and the Scottish Highlands to the immediate north. Quarter offers the ideal location for touring Scotland.

History to the present day

The house was built c1753 and is set in 60 acres of garden and parkland that has been planted with trees, shrubs and rhododendrons over the generations.

Up until the last twenty years Quarter had been owned by the same family who had built it. It was also the home of Betty Havey Anderson who was the Conservative MP for East Renfrewshire, she was also the first women deputy speaker of the House of Commons. Margaret Thatcher was a frequent visitor and as a present gave some of the azaleas planted in the garden.

Food and Drinks

Directions: Quarter is situated 3 miles south of Stirling.

From Perth on the A9/M9, Glasgow on the M80 or Edinburgh on the M9 take exit number 9 signed to Stirling. (It is signed the same exit number from all directions) The slip road in each case leads to one large roundabout which has motorway services on it.

From the roundabout take the A872 signed DENNY. Quarter is exactly two miles from the roundabout on the left. After one mile there is a garage on both sides of the road, otherwise you are in open countryside on a fast fairly straight road.

About 200 yards, before the gates to Quarter there is a notice saying Wellsfield Farm, Holiday Chalets, Riding stables with some flags.

Once past Wellstead Farm slow down and turn next left up the drive. The entrance is marked with two grey painted stone pillars set back a little which makes them difficult to see until you are close. The drive is lined with trees and Rhododendrons bushes on either side. Drive up the drive turning right at the top where it forks otherwise you will end up in the stables. The house is white.
