Introduction
This award winning Inn is situated in the quiet village of Romaldkirk in the north east of England, close to Barnard Castle in Teesdale, County Durham. An ideal location for sightseeing old market towns and castles, the world famous Bowes Museum and Eggleston Hall walled gardens are just a short drive away. Slightly further away, explore historic Durham, with its cathedral, the Yorkshire Dales and the Eden Valley.
The property offers twelve en suite bedrooms, each different in style. Seven in the main house, featuring beams and antique furniture and some with private sitting rooms. Further additional rooms are situated in a courtyard which offers a more modern and contemporary style. All rooms are furnished with luxury fabrics, comfortable beds, modern bathrooms including designer bathroom accessories and modern music systems.
History to the present day
Built in the 1733 as a coaching inn and still retains many original features such as wooden beams, fireplaces and traditional brass wear.
Food and Drinks
Full English breakfast is included and served freshly every day in the award winning restaurant, which currently holds 2 stars and 2 rosettes from the Automobile Association and further accolades from the Good Hotel Guide and Which Magazine. The Inn offers a choice of dining, from the less formal Brasserie and Bar which serves lunches each day from 12.00pm-1.45pm and supper served each evening from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. For more formal dining, the restaurant offers dinner service each evening from 7.30pm-8.45pm with a daily changing menu and a fixed price four course menu. Sunday lunch is available from 12.00pm-1.30pm with the option of a fixed price three course menu.

Directions: From Barnard Castle either take B6277 at bottom of the town by the river, cross over the bridge going out of the town and turn right. Alternatively turn left onto B6278 at top of the town (past GlaxoWellcome factory); after 5 miles turn left at Eggleston on to B6281, down over the bridge and turn left at top of hill following the road into Romaldkirk village.
