Introduction

The historic Talbot Inn, Eynsham offers accommodation with a dining room and all the charm of a traditional English inn. With eleven rooms for its Bed & Breakfast accommodation, eight of which are en-suite with views over Wytham Woods and Eynsham Lock. If you are just looking for a weekend break or perhaps visiting on business and need a place to stay that is close to all routes and attractions to Oxford and the surrounding beautiful Cotwolds then it's the place to stay.

History to the present day

A former Coaching Inn dating back to Georgian times. There was a building on the site as long ago as 1376 and the building was originally used as a wharf where goods to be moved down the river were loaded. It has been a pub since at least 1774. Originally it was called The Horse and Jockey, but was re-named in 1836 (a Talbot is an extinct hound). Great care has been taken not to spoil the pub's genuine character during the recent refurbishment; the exposed beams are original, with the charisma and atmosphere of a country pub retained.

Food and Drinks

Breakfast is served from 7.30am-9.00am Monday-Friday and 8.00am-9.00am Saturday/Sunday with a Full English Breakfast. A Breakfast To Go can be provided (prior notice is required).

The dining room offers traditional pub food. If you want to eat out in Oxford then enjoy the menu ranging from lite snacks to belt breaking meals! All the food is sourced locally and freshly prepared. Enjoy eating out on the patio area or sitting beside the riverside decking area taking in the views and why not have a traditional Arkell's ale to wash it all down with! All ales are served straight from the cask on the back of the bar.

Lunch is served from 12.00pm-2.30pm and dinner from 6.00pm-9.00pm. The dinner menu is a mix of 'Homely Comforts' and a 'Something Special' menu or on a Sunday a lunchtime Roast served from 12.00pm-3.00pm. Your meal can be complemented by a bottle of carefully selected wine or Champagne from the cellar. Cold lite bites now available all day. Choose from a selection of salads, quiches and pork pies.

Grounds and gardens

For outside seating there are 3 areas to choose. Directly outside the pub under a large parasol, on the patio or on the large decking area overlooking the Wharfstream and fields down to the River Thames with Wytham woods in the background.

Other facilities

Disabled access and car parking on site. Access to the river Thames for small boats and canoes particularly a safer area for launching off the Talbot's own landing stage.
