Introduction

This 4 star Victorian and Art Deco Hotel is associated with the world-famous author Agatha Christie and is a landmark hotel in Torquay. Situated on the seafront, overlooking the wide sweep of Torbay on one side and the resorts of Paignton and Brixham. The Grand offers many facilities such as a Leisure Suite including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, beauty salon and children's play areas.

The hotel offers individually and comfortably furnished rooms available as single, executive, double and premier rooms. All premier rooms have sea views and offer added luxuries such as bathrobes and slippers.

History to the present day

Built in the late 19th Century. The Hotel has many Victorian and Art Deco features, including original fire places and ceiling cornacing. The Grand Hotel, is associated with the world-famous author Agatha Christie. The hotel was the venue for her honeymoon, and today forms the start of the Agatha Christie Mile, which takes in many of the landmarks pertaining to the author’s past.

Food and Drinks

Full English or Continental breakfast served from 7.30am. The Grand has two restaurants, The Gainsborough providing an elegant and comfortable environment in which to enjoy more formal dining and the Compass Lounge serving lighter fare, including daily specials. The Gainsborough serves a Table d'Hote menu from 6.30pm-9.30pm. Dress is smart casual. The Compass Bar and Lounge is open from 12.00pm-9.00pm.

Grounds and gardens

An outdoor swimming pool is available which has an attractive fountain. A splash pool and play area for children and a paved area with sun loungers. The pool area is open from June – September from 8.00am–8.00pm, when a lifeguard is on duty. There are tennis courts and gardens for guests enjoyment.

Other facilities

The Grand’s indoor pool is 25 metres, fully heated and is adjoined by a jacuzzi.
The Leisure Suite also incorporates a sauna, changing rooms and showers. Towels are supplied for hotel residents. The multi-gym overlooks the indoor swimming pool and equipment includes: Cross trainer, two treadmills, recumbent cycle, upright cycle, rowing machine, step machine and a multi-gym station. 

The Beauty Clinic at The Grand offers a wide range of treatments for both men and women at an additional cost.

The hotel offers a full range of services for your car, such as valets. The hotel has free indoor parking, there is also street parking available.
