History to the present day
This elegant Victorian property was built in the 1880's as a private house and was previously owned by a Naval Captain.
Food and Drinks
Breakfast is served in the light conservatory or spacious, elegant dining room. Start with the cold buffet of fruit juices, cereal and yoghurt. Then enjoy a traditional Sussex breakfast with freshly cooked local sausages and bacon, free range eggs, tomatoes (from the garden when in season), mushrooms. Or you may prefer a lighter continental option with local cheeses, ham, croissant and locally-produced whole fruit jam. During summer, the table is supplemented with fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables from the hotel's kitchen garden using organic methods (all saving food miles). Bread is provided by a local award-winning Sussex baker.
Breakfast is served from 7.30am till 9.00am weekdays and 8.15am till 9.15am weekends.
Grounds and gardens
The lanscaped garden is a great place to relax in. It's particularly romantic at night as the trees and gazebo sparkle with tiny white lights. Sit with a coffee in the terrace's evening sun or in the gazebo and watch the wildlife. (Organic gardening methods are used to attract flora and fauna.)

Dr Susan Meintjes, April 2012: Very tastefully decorated and clean with nice bathroom goodies. Lovely garden and filling breakfast. Only negatives are lack of nearby parking, restaurants quite far to walk especially in the rain and be warned about steep narrow stairs in house. I would recommend this place to anybody however!!!!
