Introduction

The Tudor Oaks Lodge, near Hitchin, Hertfordshire is a charming coaching inn with solid oak beams and hand made brick fireplaces, dating back many hundreds of years. The accommodation is set around a central courtyard with a choice of single, double, deluxe double and super deluxe double rooms. All rooms have modern en-suite facilities such as  LCD TV and direct dial telephones. Deluxe rooms have the added luxuries of sauna showers and jacuzzi baths.

History to the present day

Built in the 16th Century, the main house is the oldest part being an H framed oak timber building, a Jacobean staircase was added later.

It is reputed to have been frequented by highwayman and weary traveller alike on their long journey’s the length of England, the site is also mentioned in the Doomsday book.

Food and Drinks

Full English breakfast is included. The Tudor Oaks restaurant serves freshly prepared meals from lunch time including traditional English food such as roast dinners.

The Tudor Oaks bar with its original beams and fireplaces is a comfortable and rustic place to relax.

A courtyard garden is a nice retreat to enjoy in the warmer months and is accessible from all the bedrooms.
