Introduction

The Wheatsheaf is an impressive food lead country inn with 3 double ensuite rooms that have coffee and tea making facilities, wifi and tv. Tucked away in the Lakeland village of Brigsteer, at the foot of Scout Scar, with its stunning panoramic views, on the edge of a damson-growing region of Lyth Valley.

History to the present day

The Wheatsheaf was built in 1762 and was originally 3 cottages and a shoeing room for horses. It then became an ale house in the late 1800's and has been an integral part of this tiny Lakeland hamlet ever since. The pub was a focal point for the local hunt for many years.

Food and Drinks

Breakfast is served from 8.30am -9.30am Monday to Friday and 9.00am - 11.30am Saturday and Sunday. A full English breakfast is served using all locally sourced ingredients. A good selection of fruit juices, teas and coffees are served. A children's menu is also available. The Wheatsheaf is a gastro-style pub with a reputation for great food, expertly cooked. A traditional pub favourites menu and an impressive seasonal a la carte menu are available, freshly-prepared with an emphasis on locally sourced produce, game and meats, including rare breeds, with fresh fish and other seafood delivered daily. The restaurant has received an AA rosette for culinary excellence.

Directions: Leave M6 at Juncition 36, taking the exit on A590 to Barrow. Continue onto A591 to Windermere. At crossroads, turn left into Whetstone Lane and follow signs to Brigsteer.
