History to the present day

The White house has been welcoming guests since the 15th Century and is a grade II listed coaching Inn. The White House has many original features such as open fires and original oak beams.

A buffet breakfast is available for guests who have early departures and a full cooked breakfast with locally produced sausages and bacon, local free range eggs, fresh fruit salad and homemade preserves all available for those guests who have a more leisurely start to the day, both served in the comfortable surroundings at The White House.

An evening meal is available at the nearby pub, (same ownership) The Lion and Lamb, and is just a 2-minute drive away, where food is served all day until 10.00pm. To assist you during your stay The White House offers, subject to availability, free transportation to the Lion and Lamb.

Directions: From the M11.  Exit M11 Junction 8, on roundabout, take the B1256, towards Takeley, The White House is 400 yards past the traffic lights on the left hand side. Please check in at the Lion and Lamb pub which is on the same road, 1 mile further on the left hand side

From the East, Leave the A120 at Dunmow West, take the B1256 towards Takeley, The Lion and Lamb is just two miles on the right hand side, The White House is one mile further on the right hand side, just beyond Smiths Green.
