Introduction

The family run Woolpack Inn is located in the in the chocolate box village of Chilham, within the Garden of England just off the A28 between Ashford and Canterbury.

Visitors can choose to relax in the cosy bar, the restaurant with its glorious bay window and country lane views or the patio courtyard where they will find the olive tree which has been in situ since the inn was built.

Parking is not a problem with availability for 25 cars to the rear of the hotel and space enough to accommodate a coach. The Woolpack provides a great stop-over destination being just 30 minutes from the channel tunnel and Ashford International.

History to the present day

The 600 year old Woolpack Inn is nestled at the bottom of the hill in the shadow of the Norman castle. With its vast oak beams and inglenook fireplaces it offers a glimpse into hospitality of yesteryear. The inn is said to be haunted by the Grey lady, a friendly ghost who wanders the main building.

Food and Drinks

Breakfast is served Monday - Friday 7.00am - 9.00am and Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays at 8.00am - 10.00am and consists of everything from a full English and continental to cereals and fruits. 

The Inn boasts a home-cooked menu with many of the ingredients being sourced locally. Fish comes off the boat in the morning and often is on the plate by lunch service.

Visitors can indulge in the local real ale of Shepherd and Neame, the Faversham brewers, and toast with a pint of Spitfire or Masterbrew whilst sitting next to the open fire. If eating in the restaurant there is a wide range of wines with a choice to suit every occasion.

Grounds and gardens

Three of the rooms have access to a small, private garden area which is great for families or an opportunity to just sit and unwind.

Directions: Head Southwest on the A28 on Military Road towards Broad Street, turn left onto Broad Street and follow A28 over four roundabouts. Turn right onto Bagham Lane and then right onto The Street.  The Woolpack Is on that Junction in front of you!
