Introduction

Located in the picturesque village of Clearwell between the beautiful Wye Valley and the Royal Forest of Dean. The hotel offers the closest accommodation to Clearwell Castle, the famous wedding venue, but is also ideal for those who enjoy walking, cycling and golfing in the Forest of Dean or simply wish for time away in a cosy inn with great food.

The hotel offers eighteen en-suite rooms with a choice of singles, doubles, twins, family and four poster bedrooms. There is also a large family suite which includes a lounge area. All bedrooms include televisions with Freeview and DVD players. The accommodation is situated in both the Manor House and the adjoining Annex.

History to the present day

Dating back to the 13th century and boasts old oak beams, fireplaces and open stonework. The hotel was originally a manor house and then a public house that has grown in size and reputation to be a fine hotel.

Food and Drinks

Full English breakfast included and served in the rustic restaurant complete with a domed 'gaol', exposed stone walls, oak beams and open fire place. Enjoy lunch, dinner and traditional Sunday lunches, with an exciting menu which uses fresh, local and seasonal ingredients to produce traditional English meals with a twist. Relax in the bar and sample local ales, ciders, beers and wines.

Directions: From the M48 turn off at Junction 2 signed A48 Chepstow. At the roundabout take the A48 in the direction of Gloucester. Follow this road over the old bridge and then take the B4228 to Coleford and The Forest of Dean. Follow this road for about 10 miles passing through village of St. Briavels, until Clearwell is sign posted on your left. The hotel is by the cross down the hill.
